The music umbrella, “MUSIGA” has postponed its elections for the seventeenth time since 2019, when Bise ‘Obour’ Osei Kufuor completed his tenure as the president of the federation.
There were apprehensions that the election was postponed due to non-renewal of voter registration and some irregularities in the names of voters.
In a statement by the Acting President of the Union, Bessa Simons, the NEC prepared to review the guidelines proposed by the Electoral Committee chaired by outgoing Eastern Regional President Peter Marfo in an emergency meeting and approved the guidelines proposed by the Electoral Committee.
“According to Marchmap, voter registration is open from March 20 to April 3, 2023. It enables members to check their status and eligibility. Thereafter, fresh voter registration for elections will be collected from April 4 to April 18, 2023.
This will be followed by the exhibition of new voter registration from April 20 to April 23, 2023.
Contestants will then have until Tuesday, August 8, 2023 to launch their campaigns for the nationwide elections.
NEC members believe that holding elections will pave the way for newly elected leaders to organize a biennial conference to work on a federal constitution.
