In a post on social media in response to his death, Dr. Bawumia wrote: “I was shocked to hear of the demise of Hon. Dr. Anthony Akoto Ose, Former Member of Parliament and Minister of the Republic.
Dr. was a very good friend and one of the people I worked closely with as Deputy Governor and Vice President of the Republic”.
“His dedication to serving mother Ghana was unmatched and his loyalty to the development of the country was unquestionable.
“I visited him a few weeks ago and was happy that he was doing well. So the news of his death came as a complete shock. God gives and God takes away. I am blessed to have a brother in you and work with you. Rest in peace my brother,” Bawumia said. added.
In the JA Kufur government, Dr. Osei was first (from 2001-2003) made the Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning and later appointed Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Finance in 2003.
He was elevated to the position of Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, a position he held until the NPP lost power in December 2008.
In 2006, he established the Wealth Creation and Social Development Skills Training Center, which trains around a hundred youth every year.
He passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, after being ill for some time.
