Some members of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) could not hide their pain over the death of their former player Christian Atsu.
He broke down in tears after paying his last respects to his former colleague.

Most people, including Samuel Osei Kufuor and John Paintsil, could not control themselves as tears streamed down their eyes and faces after seeing Christian Atsu’s remains laid in state.

Christian Atsu has been confirmed dead after the tragic earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on February 6.
He was laid to rest today, Friday, March 17, after a funeral service at the State House in Accra.

The Professional Footballers Association was full of praise for the late Christian Atsu for his humanitarian work.
Former footballers described the ex-Chelsea player as an “inspiration” to the whole world.
The result of several humanitarian efforts the former Chelsea and Porto FC footballer was embarking on before his death in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake.
PFAG bid him farewell, “You have worked hard and always followed the path of honesty, simplicity and humility. There is nothing more worthy of emulation. With tears streaming down our faces, we bid farewell to our own.”
Christian, you are gone too soon but you will live in our hearts forever. You are an inspiration to the whole world and we are proud of your achievements on and off the pitch, as your many humanitarian activities will never be forgotten.
Dear Christian, you have achieved many good things in life in present and in favor of all. Past players can thank PFAG!!
Posterity will be kind to your name and legacy.

Christian Atsu has 65 caps from 2012 to 2019 after representing Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
He helped the team finish as runners-up at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, in which he won player of the tournament and goal of the tournament.
