Conservative journalist James O’Keefe has been fired from Project Veritas, the conservative media group he founded a decade ago.
Various reports have surfaced accusing O’Keefe of running a toxic work environment, with Post Millennial reporting on “vague allegations” that he was a “brutal executive who demanded perfection”.
The National Review also says there are “clear conflicts between O’Keefe and other leaders of the conservative watchdog group,” while other reports suggest there are disputes over their spending strategies.
The conservative firebrand was placed on paid leave earlier this month as the firm’s board sorts through his next course of action.
The suspension was reportedly due to O’Keeffe’s attempt to fire the group’s chief strategy and financial officers over conflicts related to fundraising.

The undercover sting was described by O’Keefe as “the biggest story in the history of our organization” and “the only thing” that has changed during his tenure with Project Veritas in recent days.
“That’s the only thing that’s changed,” he said of the Pfizer video. “And then, suddenly, a few days later there was an extraordinary emergency.”
Since it’s already out there, here are my heartfelt words to my staff this morning.
I need to clarify that I have not resigned from Project Veritas, the company I founded 13 years ago. I was fired as CEO and President.

Outrage over O’Keefe’s removal
James O’Keefe has defended himself against accusations of being a difficult “taskmaster” to work with, admitting his mistakes but caring about his staff even if he sometimes doesn’t show it.
“I haven’t always been the most compassionate leader, and admittedly that’s my fault, something I need to work on,” he says in the video.
“I love so many of you. I never said it, those words, but I will say it now.

Fox News contributor Ben Domenech argued that if there was a way, the right-wing media would have churned out another “creative genius” like the late Andrew Breitbart.
James O’Keefe on Project Veritas is another example of how the right media and donor class are deeply intolerant of creative talent.
If Andrew Breitbart had lived, they would have found a way to get rid of him.

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk asked his followers if they thought Project Veritas would “continue to thrive” without James O’Keefe at the helm.

O’Keefe, in his farewell address to the crew, hinted at their future.
“I am announcing to you all today, on President’s Day, that I am packing up my personal belongings … and I intend to start fresh,” he told staff.
“So, our mission continues. I’m not done,” he said in a true Jerry Maguire moment.
“The mission will probably take a new name, and it will no longer be called Veritas, Project Veritas,” O’Keefe added. “I need a bunch of people around me, and I’ll make sure you know how to find me.”
