The statement revealed that this is the latest major change for the Ghanaian telecommunications company since Vodafone Group bought a controlling interest in GTCL in 2008 and established Vodafone Ghana.
Telecell is an Africa-focused telecommunications company founded in 1986, operating primarily in Africa and integrating telecommunications with fintech, e-commerce and tech startups.
“The completion of the deal to acquire Vodafone Ghana from Telecell Group provides an opportunity for further innovation and continued delivery of unparalleled services to Ghanaians,,” the company noted in a statement.
In a statement, Telecell added “The operations of Vodafone Ghana and its three subsidiaries; National Communication Backbone Company Limited (Vodafone Wholesale), Vodafone Ghana Mobile Financial Services Limited (Vodafone Cash), and Vodafone Ghana Foundation, will continue to operate continuously while embracing exciting new possibilities.
