Tunisia’s most powerful trade union has been holding rallies in several cities in protest against President Kais Syed.
Thousands of members of the UGTT union protested the rising cost of living and the recent arrests of prominent anti-government figures, including a top union official.
In the largest demonstration in the southern city of Sfax, protesters brandished banners reading “Tunisia is not for sale” and “Stop the attack on union freedoms”.
President Syed has called “traitors” responsible for rising prices and food shortages.
