The management of the University of Ghana has reiterated its determination to implement regulations that will make the university safe and accessible to all students.
The university has implemented comprehensive measures like installation of CCTVs to arrest anyone who wants to violate the university directives.
At a media briefing on the newly approved charges and the arrest of 18 persons who forced their way into the university and attacked university security, the registrar, Emelia Agye-Mensah, peaked at the new arrangement to provide accommodation for 100 students. A complete in-out policy by the 2025/2026 academic year has led to several court cases.
The university will be guided by the legal team to ensure that the right thing is done, he said.
Pro Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Gordon Awandare said that student accommodation has affected the university for many years.
However, he is optimistic that the new approach to housing will help disperse students and curb vandalism.
On the adjustment of educational facility user fees for the 2022/2023 academic year, Prof. He maintained that the fees proposed by a section of the public were not illegal.
Those having challenges in settling their fees are advised to contact the Office of Student Financial Aid for assistance.
