The United States Department of the Interior is now offering ‘EcoGrief’ training to employees experiencing feelings of shock or loss over climate change and the environment.
It crosses into the ‘beyond parody’ category of the government.
We have a massive and very real environmental disaster unfolding in Ohio, and the Department of the Interior is giving employees climate change therapy.

Under the weather: Interior department offering ‘eco-sadness training’ to employees
It’s difficult for an employee of the federal Fish and Wildlife Service. It’s not the long days of intimidating property owners, collecting gray wolf sperm samples and dealing with smart donkeys asking for a license for their pet fish Eric. It’s “environmental grief” that grinds you down.
But the government feels your pain and is here to help. “The Interior Department’s Fish and Wildlife Service is offering “environmental grief” training to employees struggling with a sense of trauma or loss as they witness a changing environment,” reports Stephen Dinan. The Washington Times.
Ecogrief, AKA “eco-anxiety,” is common on liberal arts campuses, in big-city newsrooms, and wherever people use the word “barista” without irony. “The American Psychological Association states that it manifests as a feeling of being overwhelmed by the enormity of changes in the environment or a sense of ‘anticipated loss’ — basically sadness that someone believes is inevitable, especially with climate change,” Dinan explained, and Ecoanxiety.com (indeed) says “environmental anxiety is a recognized Not a medical condition, but general anxiety, and eco-anxiety have similar characteristics.
And because taxpayer dollars share many of the same characteristics as real dollars, Fish and Wildlife is spending little on eco-sadness.
It’s surprising that it’s true.
“This 4-hour workshop seeks to normalize the wide range of emotional responses experienced by conservationists and empowers participants to take action while caring for themselves.” https://t.co/07z4Ab7DiF
