It comes just hours after the body of a Hatayspor player was recovered from the rubble on Saturday, February 18, nearly two weeks after a devastating earthquake killed thousands in Turkey and Syria.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Christian Atsu’s elder brother, twin sister and an official from the Ghana Embassy were present at the scene when the body was recovered.

“The government extends our deepest condolences to the widow and family of Christian Atsu.”

The recovery of Christian Atsu’s body on Saturday left many grieving, as family and friends paid tribute to the late star.
