The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Abarikpo community in Ahoda East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Pulse.ng reported The cult members are said to belong to an Iceland sect and reportedly kidnapped the pastor’s wife and wife in the wee hours of the fateful day and gang-raped her hours later.
However, the lifeless body of the deceased was found in the community around 10 am with multiple injuries and blood stains on her private parts, the news website said.
Narrating the incident, Pastor Steward said: “She gave birth to three children, one late. My daughter is seven years old, my youngest son is three years old.
“A boy, on Sunday, a worshiper, claimed that he killed my wife because she gossiped and spoke against him. People said my wife always spoke against him.
The man of God dispelled claims that he himself may have been a cultist, partly because his wife may have been subjected to heartless torture that led to her death.
“I am not of a sect; I am an assistant pastor in charge of evangelism at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Abarikpo. “Everybody in my community knows I’m not a cultist,” Steward said.
Activities of cultists are one of the major security issues that have claimed many lives and injured some people in Nigeria over the years. Sometimes, rival cult groups clash and attack each other with dangerous weapons, killing themselves in the process.
