Roseanne Barr accuses Hollywood of double standards: “I’m the only one who’s lost everything”
Roseanne Barr has lashed out at Hollywood in a new interview, suggesting she’s been subjected to a double standard of cancellation culture.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times published Thursday, the comedian blasted ABC for firing him from his top-rated sitcom Roseanne (later renamed The Connors) in 2018 and compared his treatment to two other popular crossover comics, Dave. Chappell and Louis CK
“He didn’t do it for anyone else in Hollywood, though he always did [mention] Dave Chappelle and Louis CK,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “Well, Louis CK lost everything, but he did something real. [offense]. And Dave Chappelle has been rescued by Netflix. I am the only person who has lost everything, stolen his life’s work, stolen from the people who loved me. And there was silence. There was no one in Hollywood who could really defend me publicly, except for Monique, a brave, dear, dear friend.
“It was a witch burning,” she adds. “They denied me the right to apologise. Oh god, they hated me so bad. I didn’t know they hated me so much. They hate me because I have talent, because I have an opinion.
Roseanne’s comedy special debuts on Monday, February 13.
