House Republicans are pushing for a ban on China buying US farmland, calling it a national security issue.
One concern is that if China gets involved in our food supply, they may try to starve parts of the country.
That may sound strange until you consider China’s history. The Chinese Communist Party has starved its own people.

House Republicans are pushing to block any person or business linked to the Chinese Communist Party from buying farmland in the United States, gaining traction on the Hill as lawmakers seek revenge over a Chinese spy-balloon attack.

Don Newhouse (R., Wash.) and Kathy McMorris Rodgers (R., Wash.), along with more than 40 cosponsors, proposed legislation last week that would prohibit any purchase of public or private agricultural real estate in the United States and would prohibit “nonresident aliens, foreign businesses, or by any agent, trustee, or fiduciary associated with the Government of the People’s Republic of China” in its territories.
The legislation, known as the Agricultural Land Ban for the People’s Republic of China Act, bars those entities from engaging in Department of Agriculture programs…
“If the Chinese Communist Party had one of the links in our food supply chain under their control, imagine how quickly they could literally starve us to death,” Newhouse told the Washington Free Beacon. “In other countries they make investments, build infrastructure, control the sources of agricultural products. … We don’t want to see that happen in the United States of America.
This is an issue that deserves more attention.
