Ghanaian actor Fred Nuama is tying his boot to contest for the parliamentary seat in Ayawaso West Wugon on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket.
The NDC is expected to hold its parliamentary and presidential elections on May 13, 2023.
Fred Nuama is a film director and producer, best known for his role in The Game.
He is the founder and CEO of the Ghana Movie Awards and Ghana TV Series Awards, an annual awards program that recognizes excellence in the film industry.
NPP’s Lydia Seram Alhassan won the Ayawaso seat
Lydia Seram Alhassan replaced her late husband Emmanuel Bokye Agyarko in January 2019 when she contested and won the Ayawaso West Wugon by-election to parliament.
He won 68.80% of valid votes in the by-election and other candidates Kwasi Delali Brempong of the NDC got 30.52%, William Kofi Dovokpor of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and Clement Bodi of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) got 0.58 and 0.10% respectively.
Lydia Alhassan retained her seat in the 2020 election after securing 39,851 votes out of a total of 77,604 votes.
His nearest rival, NDC’s John Dumelo got 37,778 votes while an independent got 108 votes.
There were 595 rejected ballots.
