Elon Musk Reveals Little-Known State Department Agency as ‘Worst Offender in US Government Censorship’

Twitter chief Elon Musk called the State Department’s Global Engagement Center a key source of federal censorship efforts in the United States.

“The worst offender in US government censorship [and] Media manipulation is an obscure organization called GEC,” he tweeted on Monday evening.

The GEC last month came out with an installment of the ‘Twitter Files’, which journalist Matt Taibbi described as an “emerging analytical/intelligence” arm to help guide Twitter’s content moderation.

“They are a threat to our democracy,” added Musk. “That was the line he gave the media about me.”

In a later tweet, Musk provided a thread to Taibbi’s report on the GEC.

Elon Musk has identified the Global Engagement Center as the biggest censorship threat

Elon Musk, in late December, while praising his own efforts to fight censorship and bring mainstream media into focus, sent an ominous warning of “worry” because “we’ve only just begun.”

A few days later, Taibbi released the 12th episode of the ‘Twitter Files’, which revealed “a surprising variety of requests from authorities asking people they don’t want to ban”.

Much of it focused on the Center for Global Engagement and efforts to bridge the gap over the Covid pandemic.

“The GEC flagged the accounts as ‘Russian individuals and proxies,’ ‘describing the coronavirus as an engineered bioweapon,’ ‘research conducted at a Wuhan institute,’ and ‘attributing the appearance of the virus to the CIA,'” Taibbi wrote.

“The state flagged accounts that retweeted the news that Twitter had banned the popular US ZeroHedge, saying the episode ‘led to another flurry of misinformation.’ ZH has made reports suggesting that the virus has a lab origin.

Taibbia said “Twitter has honored almost all of the requests, even from the GEC — including the decision to ban the accounts … because the GEC identified them as ‘GRU-controlled’ and linked to the ‘Russian government’.”

RELATED: Trump: Musk is a free-speech hero who has served this country well

Kasturi is a free speech hero

If the Global Engagement Center represents the biggest threat of censorship in this country, Kasturi is the protagonist of the story.

His exposure of the GEC and the media/big tech/social media cabal of censorship is invaluable. Even though lawmakers have yet to do anything to hold them accountable for their apparent attempts to stifle free speech.

Everyone dies one day or another

    — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 6, 2023

Former President Donald Trump has praised Musk for doing the country a “huge service” by releasing the ‘Twitter Files’ and called the visionary billionaire a free speech “hero”.

President Trump considers Elon Musk a hero: “Elon Musk did a great service when he released all this stuff … I say he’s a hero. I think it’s a big part of his legacy. I think it’s more important than anything else he’s done. pic.twitter.com/okQKfrooBg

Revealing the State Department’s GEC is another step along the way. Even their mission statement, which they believe to be misinformation like left-wing propaganda, is at variance with prevailing propaganda.

    Its Mission Statement:

To direct, lead, synchronize, coordinate, and coordinate the efforts of the US federal government to identify, understand, expose, and counter foreign state and non-state propaganda and disinformation efforts aimed at undermining or influencing the policies, security, or stability of the United States, its allies, and partner nations.

Where was this organization when the Russian Federation’s deception was making major rounds in the mainstream media? Where were they when the Steele dossier was considered a subject?

Where should he stop “undermining or influencing the … stability of the United States” when Hunter Biden’s laptop is being reported to be false in an attempt to interfere in the US election?

Musk says he’s been too busy to be “the worst offender in US government censorship.”
