Capitol Police this week reinstated metal fencing around the U.S. Capitol ahead of President Biden’s upcoming State of the Union address on Tuesday.
Capitol fencing, originally installed after the Jan. 6 riots and frequently used for protection since then, is being restored with the SOTU address, CBS News reported.
He describes it as “controversial”.
“For the third year in a row, an eight-foot black metal fence surrounds the U.S. Capitol complex while President Joe Biden addresses Congress,” he writes.
Fencing, plastered with signs that read, “Area closed by order of the United States Capitol Police Board,” has become an increasingly common and controversial security measure after the Capitol riots.
Fencing is expected to remain in place until at least Wednesday.

It’s really strange to see the Capitol Police and lawmakers huddle behind a huge metal fence every time they think people might show up to protest the president who won the most popular votes in American history.
Especially when the former defense secretary described the Capitol riots as little more than a “rowdy band of MAGA supporters taking selfies.”
For months after the Jan. 6 rally, the Capitol complex was fortified with thousands of National Guard troops, surrounded by razor-wire fencing and locked down with manned checkpoints.
About two years ago, when the fencing was finally removed, the New York Post celebrated by calling it “The People’s House Again.”
He then put it back into every SOTU speech. When protesters wanted to hold a rally to promote justice for Ashley Babbitt, they pushed it back. They put it back when American truckers prepared their own ‘freedom convoy’ to the nation’s capital.
They are cowards, plain and simple.
People naturally had some questions about the return of metal fencing.
So do walls work?

It appears the walls work … for the personal safety of the President
With metal fencing returning to the capital, many people openly wondered why it was necessary, while others noted the hypocrisy.
“So the walls work?” asked a woman Named Cindy.
They work. Our legislators know they work. That’s it their Safety is a priority, see, but little people – they don’t matter.
Rep. Lauren Bobert (R-CO) joked that metal fencing is needed more to keep President Pudding Pop from wandering off.
They have restored the fence around the Capitol.
With no reports of increased threats, I can only assume it’s to make sure Biden doesn’t wander off after SOTU.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Green (R-GA) wondered how metal fencing could protect the president from a Chinese spy balloon.
“Joe Biden is more afraid of Americans visiting their capitol than God only knows if a Chinese spy balloon invades our airspace,” he tweeted.
The fence around the Capitol is back up for SOTU because Biden knows walls work on the ground.

Conservative Pamela Hensley writes: “The most popular ‘president’ in history with 81 million ‘votes’ is afraid of American citizens.”
An account named DC_Draino echoed those sentiments, writing, “They’re building a wall around the Capitol for the SOTU of the man who got ‘the most votes in American history.'”

come on Surprised? The same guy who had to spend an entire presidential campaign in 2020 hiding in his basement to get elected. He had to hide from people that he was a low-functioning mental patient.
Former acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller essentially mocked lawmakers for their response to the Jan. 6 riots, Political Insider reported Monday.

Miller described top Democrats and Republicans as “hyperventilating on the phone” as they sought protection in the Capitol that day.
He portrayed lawmakers as “scared like frightened children” for the world to see during the riots.
“Do I blame a group of geriatrics for behaving like a group of geriatrics? Of course not. But do I judge them for that? I am damned right,” he said.
Old people are acting like scared children again.
A mother of two who lives in the neighborhood spoke to CBS News about the metal fencing at the Capitol.
“This is shocking to our children and it sends a message that something is wrong with our country and our Capitol,” he said. “Our kids are seeing this and their parents are like, ‘What’s wrong? Why are we being held back?’
It’s okay for kids to be traumatized outside the fence, but kids inside should feel cozy, safe, and secure.
