The balloon soared over nuclear silos and military installations with Biden’s full approval.

The balloon was shot down Saturday over the Atlantic off the coast of the Carolinas.
According to the Pentagon, the spy balloon carried explosives to self-detonate, was 200 feet tall and weighed thousands of pounds.

Commander of the US Northern Command, Air Force General Glenn D. VanHerck revealed new details about the downed balloon in a call with reporters on Monday.
His explanation followed a briefing by National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, who defended President Joe Biden’s decision to intercept and shoot down Chinese craft off the coast of South Carolina on Saturday.
“The president decided not to shoot it until he could do it safely, and that meant on the water, which provided us with a terrific opportunity to get a better understanding of the capabilities of this balloon,” he told reporters. a call
