It’s fascinating to watch people in blue, non-border states deal with a problem that red border states have had to deal with for years.
New York has had an illegal immigrant problem for only a few months and it seems they can’t handle it.
The people of the city are impatient and angry at the way the leadership has catered to the wishes of the migrants.
The New York Post reported:
Trending: Oh good grief. The US military fears that China could reach the balloon wreckage before they get there – a proper rescue vessel won’t be there for days
New Yorkers are angry that the wave of immigrants has been rolled out on the red carpet
Nothing pleased New Yorkers more than when Mayor Eric Adams finally put his foot down this week and swept away dozens of protesting immigrants camped outside Midtown’s Watson Hotel.
Until Wednesday, everyone outside the political and activist ranks was dumbfounded by the ferocity of City Hall’s leading bigwigs and activists in fueling immigrant demands.
“Congratulations,” we heard New Yorkers on the street describe immigrants who were refused a transfer from a hotel to downtown Brooklyn. These men (all single) enjoyed $300-a-night private rooms (with bath and shower) in the heart of Midtown that most taxpayers would envy.
This prompted Bonfilio Solis, a Mexican immigrant with a “bulls-,” remodeling business. He told the Post that the immigrants were “very disrespectful.”
A new Quinnipiac poll shows a majority of New Yorkers agree with the mayor that the 40,000-plus immigrants who have arrived in Gotham (so far) have pushed the city to the breaking point and should be moved up.
New Yorkers are generous and big-hearted, but free stuff for immigrants — meals, health care, haircuts, cellphones, ping-pong tables, and Xboxes — makes regular people squawk big time.
Jazz Shaw of Hot Air adds:
Imagine all the people who had to be scrapped and saved after coming to America. In the past few months, he has seen immigrants showered with “free stuff.” And we’re not talking about free meals and rooms. As the Post notes, many of them are getting free “health care, haircuts, cellphones, ping-pong tables and Xboxes.”
There is no end in sight when it comes to these issues and there won’t be until the border is secured and the flow of migrants slows down. In the meantime, judging by the latest polling numbers, what these open border policies are doing is creating a lot more Republicans and conservatives in a city traditionally ruled entirely by liberal Democrats.
New Yorkers voted for Democrat leadership. What did they think would happen?
Will they try something different next time?
