On Friday, during the second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, an amateur player’s caddy suddenly collapsed and was rushed to a nearby hospital after receiving CPR.
According to ESPN Paolo UggettiPlay was interrupted for nearly an hour after Pebble Beach businessman Geoff Couch’s caddy suddenly collapsed on the 11th-hole fairway after being unrecognizable.
I spoke with Max McGreevy, who said his caddy collapsed in the middle of the fairway and he quickly removed his bag to try CPR. When asked if he could watch his group play again, he said no.

Other members of the group, including country singer Lucas Nelson and PGA Tour professionals Beau Hassler and Max McGreevy, were blown away by what they witnessed. Couch left the team shortly after the ambulance arrived.
American professional golfer Beau Hassler said, “I can’t say I’m really comfortable at this point to resume playing.”
“I turn around and he’s on the ground and I run up to him and flip him over,” said Lucas Nelson, another amateur country singer in the group.
“And he didn’t have much color. Luckily, there was a police officer on the sidelines. He knew CPR, so he came over and effectively saved his life.
Nelson told ESPN Paolo Ugetti says the Caddy is now “working well”.
Players and caddies are now hugging each other. Lucas Nelson, another hobbyist, told me that the collapsed caddy was “doing great.” The group returns to the clubhouse to regroup. It is unclear whether he will continue playing.
