Since the release of the music collaboration, it has been met with mixed reactions and many industry players were not impressed with Sarkodie’s work on the song.
His industry colleague Shatta Wale described the rapper’s feature on Bob Marley’s new version of Stir It Up as ‘incorporating a ghost’.
In an interview with DJ Reuben on Love FM’s Drive Time, Shatta not only scoffed at the project, but downplayed Sarkodie’s appearance on the Bob Marley classic.
he added “I think it shouldn’t be a problem. As we heard, Sarkodie featured Bob Marley, it’s so beautiful, at least one of us has a ghost, we have to praise him.
Rapper, Ya Pono also dropped a diss song which caused a stir on social media.
“Since when did we show the dead?” Pono rapped while suggesting that any attempt to exclude him from a list of theme-based rappers was rubbish.
In the song, Ya Pono epitomizes his prowess as he asserts superiority over other rappers. He has the distinction of performing at shows every weekend. He disclosed that some industry players are fearing him while alleging spiritual attacks on his person.
“Monkeys, some of your fans still congratulate me” He rapped in the Twi language, claiming to be the king of the rap music space.
“Who runs this yard? Pono runs this yard.”
Ghanaian reggae-dancehall singer and broadcaster Black Rasta recently added his voice to Sarkodie’s feature on Bob Marley’s “Stir It Up” remix.
According to him, Sarkodie’s feature with Bob Marley is a desecration of the legendary musician’s legacy.
Black Rasta, who spoke on his show on Accra-based 3FM, noted that the rapper’s attitude has tarnished the legacy of the legendary reggae singer and that the originality of the song was meant to praise the legendary lover.
“What Sarkodie did was just a desecration of Bob Marley’s legacy. This is such a shame. What Sarkodie did was nothing but desecration of the king of music. It’s like burying a king and you go dig him up and steal the gold and diamonds he buried.
However, Sarkodie, who has plenty of critics, responded to him in a Twitter video post.
The rapper posted a funny Osofo Kyrie Abosum video with the words, ‘Say what needs to be said, I’m watching everyone, I’ll strike when the time comes. I am keeping an eye on a lot of people and will take action after it is over’.
The song “Stir It Up” is currently number 1 on YouTube for music.
