Legendary poet Maya Angelou is famous for her quote “When someone shows you who they are, believe them for the first time.” A senator from the faraway state of Nebraska decided to declare war on religious families despite her protests that she was just trolling.
State Senator Megan Hunt, fired up over a Republican-backed bill that would bar minors from attending satirical drag queen shows and penalize adults, filed an unconstitutional amendment last Friday to prosecute individuals who take their children to church events. Vacation Bible Study.
Here are the full details of Hunt’s blasphemous proposal, courtesy of Blaze:
Hunt’s amendment calls for barring youth from “religious instruction camp,” which the proposal defines as “a camp, vacation Bible study, retreat, lock-in, or convention conducted by a church, youth group, or religious organization for instructional purposes.” Children with specific religious beliefs.

“The Legislature finds that there is a well-documented history of indoctrination and sexual abuse of children by religious leaders and clergy. Abusers within churches and other religious institutions use events such as church or youth group-sponsored camps and retreats to gain the trust of children and gain unsupervised access to such children in order to commit such abuse,” reads a portion of Hunt’s amendment.
“No person below the age of nineteen shall be present in a religious indoctrination camp. Any person nineteen years of age or older who knowingly brings a person under nineteen years of age into a religious indoctrination camp is guilty of a Class I misdemeanor. Hunt’s amendment states. “No person under the age of twenty-one years shall be present at a camp of religious instruction, in such place where alcoholic liquor is served, even if such alcoholic liquor is served as part of a religious ceremony.”
Hunt later tried to claim in response to critics on Twitter that he was just trying to “make a point” about the Republican bill to protect children. Hunt later hypothesized that she would withdraw such legislation in time for its passage.
This is the amendment I use to make a point about the underlying bill, LB371, which would ban all-ages drag shows. It will not pass, I will withdraw it if there are votes to pass. It is a tool to make a point. We don’t need to bother or worry. https://t.co/aUgwBtN1QG

Whether or not Hunt was really serious about his amendment is irrelevant. That she has the audacity to equate parents who want their children to serve Jesus Christ to those who take their children to events where adults expose themselves is a prime example of the moral outrage of the radical left and the disgust of loyal Americans.
This is not the first time Hunt has taken a blowtorch to America’s constitutional freedoms. Left-wing lawmakers claimed last March that gun ownership is not a God-given right and insulted our founding fathers at the same time.
Here is her tweet of the day:
Owning a gun is not a “God given right”. It was a right granted by the slave-owning, misogynistic Founding Fathers.
I’m not against 2a, but let’s be real – the constitution was written by the people!
Today I’m introducing a bill that would allow concealed carry without training or a license. #Neleg

Hunt’s protests in response to his amendment must have fallen on deaf ears. She and her fellow travelers have consistently demonstrated that they see Americans with traditional values as their primary adversaries.
