Rep. Richie Torres (D-NY) said Rep. Jorge Santos will leave the House. It’s just a matter of when.
Rep. on CNN. Video by Torres:
Torres told Jim Acosta, “Well, Jorge Santos is going to go, it’s just a question of when. But Jorge Santos has no shame, his pathological lying and law breaking know no bounds. Every day, we learn about a new lie George Santos told or a new law George Santos broke. The latest revelations are that the Santos campaign has fraudulent donors and names similar to the life story of George Santos. And the House Republican leadership, hoping to drain the swamp, refused to call for the resignation of Jorge Santos. And Elise Stefanik, the chairwoman of the GOP conference who not only enthusiastically endorsed but also fundraised, owes the people of New York an apology. George Santos’ best hope of being held accountable is his lawyer, and I suspect his only chance of leveraging a plea bargain during a criminal trial.
Jorge Santos goes.
Because House Republicans refuse to do the right thing and oust him, the nation is stuck with this corrupt criminal in an office he should never have elected until he is convicted of a criminal offense.
Kevin McCarthy could do the right thing for the country and hold the vote to oust Santos, but the speaker needs Santos’ vote, so he establishes the standard of criminal conviction to remove Santos from office.
Rep. Santos will go, but the damage he did to House Republicans will linger.
