Audio of David DePape’s trial was released this evening, three days after his arrest.
David Depop was arrested in the early hours of October 28, 2022 after hitting Paul Pelosi over the head with a hammer. He was put on trial three days after his arrest. Portions of this inquiry were released today.

David DePape admitted to assaulting Paul Pelosi and telling San Francisco police he intended to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage, a recording of his interrogation was made public Friday.

While speaking with the special investigator, DePape, 42, espoused conspiracy theories centered on the Democratic Party and Nancy Pelosi, who was Speaker of the House at the time.
Earlier today, body camera footage showing DePape assaulting Pelosi, a recording of Pelosi speaking to a 911 operator and surveillance footage showing someone identified as DePape breaking into a Pacific Heights home were released.
DePape admitted to being the attacker and described how he broke into the house. He said he believed the Democrats stole the election from Trump. He said he saw Nancy Pelosi as one of the biggest liars in the country.
FOX KTVU told detectives an excerpt of the back-and-forth between DePape. The dialogue has been edited for clarity and length.
Police: Do you know why you are in custody?
DEPAPE: Absolutely.
I just wanted to make sure you were ok… how did you get there today?
I know exactly what I did.
Is there a reason? Did you think Pelosis did anything to you?
I’m not particularly me. But honestly to the American public. She was the leader of the pack.
