Left-wing Democrat Ilhan Omar suggested that he and his colleagues, Reps. Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff, be kicked out of their committees as a “threat to national security.”
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy earlier this week formally rejected a late-stage bid for Schiff and Swalwell to serve on the House Intelligence Committee, citing “integrity matters.”
Swalwell was involved in a reported affair with a Chinese spy, while Schiff is accused of leaking classified information in order to promote Russian confederation fraud.
McCarthy is considering removing Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee, though he is getting some pushback from caucus Republicans and the move needs a majority vote in the full House to succeed.
Minnesota lawmakers described McCarthy’s efforts as “not only a political stunt, but a blow to the integrity of our democratic institutions and a threat to national security.”

Ilhan Omar Mad About Committee Moves
Ilhan Omar’s reaction to his colleagues’ panel rejections was a bit more measured than Swalwell’s, whose estrogen-laden response was ‘ZOMG, McCarthy’s trying to murder me!’

Still, it’s amusing that Omar discusses the apparent concern for “the integrity of our democratic institution” and our national security.
After all, she has been accused of funneling campaign money to her husband, has a consistent history of anti-Semitic remarks, and in 2019 the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported on documents that raised questions about whether she had previously been married to her own brother. “Get rid of immigration laws.”
Integrity? Ms. Not exactly a priority for Omar.
Not to mention, he equated actions taken by the United States and Israel to actions taken by the Taliban and Hamas. As such, her role in House of foreign affairs The committee should have been terminated a long time ago.
This is not a political stunt! You are a threat to national security! https://t.co/8s7UhfcYER

Her removal from the Africa subcommittee says…you guessed it
For those disappointed that Omar didn’t take the typical route and blame it all on racism, you’re in for a treat.
Omar, a member of the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, and Global Human Rights, accused McCarthy of all kinds of bigotry for potentially removing him.
“Being the only African born, not being on the Africa subcommittee is not just the elimination of a unique voice, but the elimination of all voices that have never been heard on the continent’s committee,” he tweeted.
“It’s racist, xenophobic and discriminatory.”
Alas! That’s the race card trifecta right there.
Being the only African born, not being on the Africa subcommittee is not just the elimination of a unique voice but the elimination of all voices that have never been heard on the continent’s committee.
It is racist, xenophobic and discriminatory.

It’s all old hat for Omar, who fled Somalia with his family as a child.
In 2019, she wrote an op-ed column in the New York Times where she claimed to have experienced prejudice in America “as a visible Muslim woman” from day one.
Reps. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) and Nancy Mays (R-SC) have said they oppose removing Omar from the committee.
