NBC News reveals multiple sources that MAGA representative Marjorie Taylor Green is trying to position herself as the frontrunner for Donald Trump’s pick for vice president in 2024.
NBC cites two people who spoke with Green about his future plans — Steve Bannon, a former top aide to Trump, as well as another unnamed source — who believe he is looking to get on the Republican ticket with the former president.
“This is no shrinking violet, she’s ambitious — she’s not shy about it, nor should she be,” Bannon said.
Paraphrasing the late political reporter Cokey Roberts, he added, “The MTG looks in the mirror and sees a potential president smiling back.”
A second source told NBC News that Green’s “whole vision is to be vice president.”

“She sees herself on the short list,” Steve Bannon told NBC.
A second source who advised her said it was her “absolute vision” to get the ticket.
This explains the *why* of her often chronicled recent rebrand efforts.

Such reports that Marjorie Taylor Green is looking to become vice president explain why she has gone head-to-head with Trump and new House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
It seems like an obvious attempt to prove she’s not fringe like the Lauren Boberts and Matt Gaetzes of the world while showing she’s willing to go with the most lucrative political position of the day.
The report seems to be consistent with that view.
“That goal is at the heart of (Vice President) Green’s latest efforts to rebrand himself as a politician who can bridge the gap between the party’s stalwarts and its establishment wing,” sources told NBC News.

Locking arms with McCarthy was a politically lucrative venture for Green. She has been named by McCarthy to the House Homeland Security and Oversight Committees, as well as recently to the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Republicans have created two select subcommittees to stop the weaponization of the federal government and finally get answers to the sources of COVID and take advantage of federal government action research that contributed to the pandemic.

Green’s 2024 aspirations
This explains Green’s recent bathroom shouting match with Bobert and her public jab at Gaetz. She’s definitely trying to set herself apart from the other MAGA reps.

Green last week mocked Gaetz for trying to barter concessions from McCarthy and declared himself “the leading MAGA voice in Congress.”
Thanks to him @SpeakerMcCarthy & steering most of us to vote for me in the committees I requested in the submission form I filled out.
It’s unfortunate that we’re weeks behind when you spend a week getting MTV from 5 to 1.
As a leading MAGA voice in Congress, I look forward to the committees. https://t.co/2dOYSPu2NK

Trump announced his 2024 campaign after the midterm elections in November but has not yet indicated who he is leaning toward as veep.
An unnamed source told NBC News that if Marjorie Taylor Green sees herself as a vice presidential candidate, she thinks Trump sees her the same way.
“The source, who has ties to Trump but spoke on condition of anonymity to describe private conversations, said they believe Green will be on Trump’s shortlist,” NBC reported.
A new Harvard Capps Harris poll conducted between January 18 and 19 shows that in a hypothetical matchup between Trump and President Biden, they would emerge 46% to 41%.
Will adding Marjorie Taylor Green to the ticket help or hurt those numbers?
