The former American Idol contestant, who finished in the top 6 in 2014, died suddenly on Sunday.
TMZ reports that CJ Harris, 31, suffered a heart attack in his hometown of Jasper, Alabama.
He was taken to hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The singer performed Reality TV performed in 2014, making it into the top six. He subsequently developed a friendship with his mentor, Darius Rucker.
Harris auditioned for The X-Factor and The Voice but was unsuccessful so she turned her attention to American Idol, where she made a big impact in the 13th season.
He first auditioned in Tuscaloosa and then in 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Harris wowed the judges with her rendition of Soulshine by the Allman Brothers Band.
Judge Keith Urban told CJ that ‘you have to sing’ to sing, ‘You want to sing’. And, I mean that in a profound way. And, that is why it is so believable and real.
She then sang Too Close, American Woman and Free Fallin’.
He reached the sixth position.
